Future Ready Librarians is an extension of the Future Ready Schools (FRS) initiative at the Alliance for Excellent Education aimed at connecting school librarians to the strategic work of school districts. With a central goal of personalizing student learning, the FRS Librarians Framework highlights essential areas in which librarians can lead, teach, and support innovation and transformation in schools.

One of these essential roles is empowering the student as creator both within and beyond the library. A FRS Librarian encourages and facilitates students to become increasingly self-directed as they create digital products of their learning that engage them in critical thinking, collaboration and authentic, real-world problem solving. The FRS Librarians Framework also identifies other roles including instructional collaboration, facilitating professional learning, and designing collaborative spaces.
